★★★★ “Hilarious! Marino has created a unique hour of entertainment by taking the overplayed solo show format and fashioning an improvised comedy routine that works all the better for the audience’s connection to the source material.” - Broadway Baby, Edinburgh

What is Show Up?

"Show Up" is Peter Michael Marino's international, critically acclaimed, semi-improvised/semi-scripted show that's based on the crazy real-life experiences of the audience - who also control the set and sound. The show played to sold out houses at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe, as well as a 15-month run in NYC. The show plays Buffalo and Toronto in December 2017.

★★★★★ “A spot on piece of ‘let’s have fun’ that works on so many levels. Marino takes the old saw of using our suggestions to plot out an improvised story. But that’s just the icing on the cake. Prior to that, he ushers us down an autobiographical lane that is both hilarious and sincere. He is the cowardly lion – but he’s the one who has his courage back because he’s up there on the stage about to fly without a net. ” - Front Row Center

Pete is a NYC-based performer who has been writing, directing, teaching and producing solo shows for over 25 years. He is best known for his critically acclaimed solo show Desperately Seeking the Exit, which chronicled the making and unmaking of his West End flop Desperately Seeking Susan. Pete wanted to see what would happen if he just showed up at a theater and created a solo show on the spot. The result is Show Up, which began performances in 2016 at Under St. Marks and then played The People’s Improv Theater before receiving raves at the 2017 Orlando International Fringe Festival. Why The Fourth Wall loves "Show Up" and why you should see it:

We've seen a lot of one man shows and there are some things that are the same across the board with them. Pete has performed a lot of solo shows - so now he's going to have fun with all those solo show things

We're all about audience participation, but our favorite kind of audience participation is the kind that makes the audience feel safe and taken care of. Pete is a master at this. You'll find yourself talking about a memory from your childhood that you haven't talked of in years and yet you still feel safe doing so. Later, he'll weave that memory into an improvised show and you'll find yourself utterly delighted in the results.

If you've never seen a one man show, this is a wonderful place to start - it's fun, exciting, thoughtful, and completely unexpected. If you've seen more than your fill of one man shows, this is perfect for you. You'll fall in love with the medium again as you see it in a whole new light.

Yes! The Fourth Wall is performing, too!

In addition to kicking the evening off with a short performance, we'll be participating in our own unique way in "Show Up"... but we won't spoil it for you. Come see the shenanigans!
